COUNSELLING & PSYCHOTHERAPY

Counselling and psychotherapy are ‘talk' treatments that help people resolve emotional, psychological or other mental health concerns that detract from one’s quality of life. Counselling usually refers to short-term treatment for a particular problem. Psychotherapy usually refers to longer-term treatment for complex issues that are having a negative effect on a person’s life.

We offer a range of evidenced based therapies, individually tailored to meet your individual needs and work with children, adolescents and adults. Sessions with children and adolescents may include significant others such as parents and/or siblings, grandparents or carers.

Sessions are usually 1 hour and may be weekly, fortnightly or monthly.

Sessions may be provided face to face, over the phone or by telehealth.

Options to Access

Private therapy is available by self-referral. While there are no doctors’ referrals or mental health treatment plans required to access private therapy with RCW we believe it is important to keep any health professionals you may be seeing informed of your decision to access therapy.

Please note that at this point in time there is no reimbursement available through Medicare or health fund providers for private, fee-for-service consultations provided by RCW. If you are unsure whether this is a suitable option for your situation please make contact to discuss.
